Lonely Arch in Moonlight

in the belly of this
little vessel, the shelter
of night, I have nothing on my shoulders
My hobbies: – Marathon Geometry – Outliving my usefulness – Being the last one with a firm grip on the earth
It’s funny how, on the road from vision to execution, these things tend to drift. I think, in my imagination, the gothic archway way more elegant, with thinner columns, set wider across the opening. Also, I’ve been trying to be more courageous about using strong contrasting colors (I tend to dilute my colors incessantly), but I still have further to go in that direction. This one could have been nearly black in the foreground, and the effect would have been even more dramatic.
I have a couple more geometrical scenes to share, and a couple more watercolors. I’ve been on an extended break from ink and pen and brush, but when I finish my current pencil sketchbook, I think I’ll move back in that direction.
Good luck out there. Stand tall, even in the ruins.
